Registry Files Cleaner - A Very Important Computer Maintenance Tool

You've probably heard cleaning your computer's registry files will help you in your quest to keep your computer running fast. A registry needs to be cleaned when it becomes bogged down with information it is no longer using. This will cause a PC to slow down. Also, a computer in this condition will be prone to crashes and freezes as well as error messages.

So, just what is a registry and why does it need to be cleaned periodically. A registry is a key part of a Windows operating system. Actually the registry is a file system that is very similar to any Windows file system. In other words, the registry uses folders and files just like your Word documents use. There can be folders inside of folders inside of other folders or in some cases simply files inside of a main folder.

Files and Folders in Folders

Similar to the way all your Word documents are stored, all information about a computer's user, the computer itself, and anything else that pertains to the way operations will be performed on your computer is stored in the registry.

When programs are being run, these programs transfer some of their files to the registry. Without doing so, it would not be possible for the program to run on your computer. So, when this program is no longer being run, those files should be removed from the registry. However, this does not always happen. Sometimes the files a program enters into a registry remain there after the program is no longer in use.

Accumulated useless Information Equals a Slow Computer

You can see how after some time a registry can accumulate information it does not need. This useless information becomes a stumbling block to every Windows operation. This is because the registry has to sort through entries that have no function. Still, the only way the operating system can determine these entries have no function is to execute them. This, of course, is a waste of time.

Even worse, this information may lead the operating system to believe there is something missing when actually there is nothing missing but instead an errant registry entry has pointed the OS in a direction in which it cannot complete its operation. The result is an error message will pop up on the computer's screen.

So you can see, cleaning unneeded registry files from the registry is a necessary part of computer maintenance. Without doing so, a Windows operating system will have its operations impeded and the result will be a computer that is slow and liable to freeze or give error messages. So, to keep your computer running fast and efficiently one thing you need to do is keep the registry clean.
